At our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Group, we believe in the power of nurturing emotional intelligence and resilience in children. SEL is an essential component of education that helps children manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, and navigate social situations confidently. Our group is dedicated to fostering these crucial skills, ensuring that children grow into well-rounded individuals ready to thrive in all aspects of life.
Tailored Learning for Different Age Groups
Our weekly learning sessions, led by our dedicated Family Support team, are tailored to meet the developmental needs of our children, providing age-appropriate guidance and support.
For our infant and toddler groups, we focus on helping them identify and understand emotions in themselves and others. This foundational skill sets the stage for more advanced social-emotional learning as they grow. Our older preschool-aged children delve deeper, moving beyond simple identification to learn self-regulation and coping mechanisms. These skills are vital for effectively managing their emotions and interactions.
Monthly Themes and Activities
Each month, we introduce specific themes and activities that build on the foundational skills of social-emotional learning. These themes are designed to help children develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others, enhancing their emotional intelligence and problem-solving abilities.
January’s Theme: Growth Mindset and Goal Setting
This month, our theme is all about fostering a growth mindset and learning how to set and achieve goals. We’ve used the inspiring book, “The Koala Who Could,” to share the empowering message, “I can do it!” Our activities encourage children to believe in their ability to learn and improve while understanding that it’s okay to ask for help when needed. We emphasize the importance of not feeling discouraged and always striving to do their best.
February’s Focus: Self-Awareness and Self-Reflection
Looking ahead to next month, our focus will shift to self-awareness and self-reflection. Research shows that children who develop a strong sense of self and effective coping mechanisms early in life are better prepared to succeed. We’ll use engaging books like “Bravo, Avocado” and “Taco Falls Apart” to spark discussions and activities centered on understanding their strengths, acknowledging their emotions, and developing strategies for managing challenges.
Our goal is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where children can explore and enhance their social-emotional skills. Through our carefully designed themes and activities, we aim to equip them with the tools they need to thrive both now and in the future.
