At Beyond Blindness, we have created a community that is inclusive for all children and their families. Our team also works hard to ensure the families we serve feel just as supported as their children, offering inclusive family events that help build confidence, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. As we wrap up one of our most exciting times of the year, filled with plenty of opportunities to get creative and make new connections, join us in taking a look back at our remarkable summer.
2024 Inclusive Summer Camp
We were thrilled to welcome 64 kids at our 2024 Inclusive Summer Camp — twice as many as last year! Held on the Beyond Blindness campus, we had two weeks filled with incredible adventures, learning experiences, and new friendships. From field trips where we kayaked at Newport Aquatic Center and rode trains at Irvine Regional Park to on-campus activities like crafts and meeting our local firefighters, we created unforgettable memories that campers will cherish for a lifetime.
Family Summer Skate Day 2024
Summer was a fun-filled season of new experiences, connection, and making every moment count with our Beyond Blindness families. On Aug. 11, 90 people joined us at Great Park Ice for our 2024 Family Summer Skate Day, an inclusive event held in partnership with The Rinks. Everyone in the family was invited to participate, whether they needed a wheelchair or stroller on the ice or assistive skating equipment and extra support from The Rinks coaches.
Family Game Day at Angel Stadium 2024
The summer fun continued onto Sunday, August 18th when we hosted a Family Game Day at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. This event brought together 46 kids and their family members. Held in partnership with the Angels Baseball Foundation, the event was a fun afternoon of laughter, ballpark treats, and cheering for the home team!
