August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month

This month, we want to raise awareness about the importance of children’s eye health and safety, and how it can affect learning and development. Taking care of your eyes is essential at any stage of life. However, it is especially important to identify visual problems early on, as it can ensure children receive the help they need as their eyes continue to develop.

Vision Screenings and Exams

Mark your calendars for free vision screenings and examinations from Beyond Blindness and our generous partners.

As kids prepare to go back to school this August, take advantage of free vision screenings and examinations offered by Beyond Blindness and our partners, such as Ketchum School of Optometry and Family Support Network. Vision examinations will be held across Orange County, with new dates and partners being added to our Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month webpage as they are confirmed.

2024 August vision screenings and examinations currently include:

  • Thursday, August 1 from 9 AM – 12:30 PM
    Optometry exams at Beyond Blindness in Santa Ana (appointment required)

  • Thursday, August 8 from 9 AM – 12:30 PM
    Optometry exams at Beyond Blindness in Santa Ana (appointment required)

  • Friday, August 9 from 8:30-11:30 AM
    Family Support Network Developmental Screenings including vision at Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living, located at 307 Placentia Ave, Newport Beach, CA 92663 (no appointment necessary)

  • Thursday, August 15 from 9 AM – 12:30 PM
    Optometry exams at Beyond Blindness in Santa Ana (appointment required)

  • Thursday, August 22 from 9 AM – 12:30 PM
    Optometry exams at Beyond Blindness in Santa Ana (appointment required)

  • Friday, August 23 from 8:30-11:30 AM
    Family Support Network Developmental Screenings including vision at MOMS OC, located at 1128 W Santa Ana Blvd, Santa Ana, CA 92703 (no appointment necessary)
