Education, Training, Counseling and Inclusive Support to Empower Children and Families to Live Full and Rewarding Lives
When a family walks through our door for the first time, we want them to know that Beyond Blindness will be with them throughout their child’s lifetime in whatever way they need or want us to be. We are here to support the entire family, not just the child.
No journey follows any templated, linear path. Beyond Blindness wants families to understand that we’ll always be there for them. Families can come to us at any time in their journey for any reason – that’s why there are different entry points. This integrated approach really speaks to the nature of care our families need and will create the best possible chance for their child to thrive.
Family Support Services Include:
Journey of Care
Families are welcomed to Beyond Blindness with a comprehensive onboarding process designed to establish each family’s “journey of care” based on individual need and diagnosis. Families always have access to a licensed social worker and will receive ongoing wellness checks to identify emerging needs. We aim to empower children and their families at every step of their journey.
Parent Education & Training
In addition to ensuring children are well equipped to take on the world, Beyond Blindness provides tools and resources for parents, grandparents, and siblings that are essential to their education journey. This includes in-home setups, necessary education tools, and more.
Counseling
Beyond Blindness recognizes the many emotional challenges individuals with visual impairments and their families face.
In order to empower these individuals and families toward independence, we offer counseling services to enhance coping skills and increase communication while providing the tools necessary to navigate these challenges.
