Set amidst Marconi’s spectacular car collection, the most stunning part of Vision Beyond Sight was the inspiring stories of individuals who triumphed over the obstacle of vision loss.
The event raised over $200,000, an astonishing show of support. Proceeds from Vision Beyond Sight will directly fund low vision services for children from birth to age 22 throughout Orange County. With these services, children can make academic and developmental progress towards their potentials every day at BCLC.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to dine in the dark in order to personally experience the challenge of vision loss.
The Center was honored to recognize Bob and Nadine Hall (full video tribute below). In a short video, Honorary Chair Bob Hall shared his own story with debilitating childhood cataracts, but urged attendees to “never give up on a child.”
“We are so grateful for the Hall’s support and were thrilled to honor them on this very special evening,” said Interim President Carina Morris. “They have truly helped us fulfill our mission to prepare thousands of children with visual impairments for a life of independence.”
Featured speaker Wayne Heidle shared his story of losing most of his vision in early adulthood, only to find a new calling as a professor of adaptive technology and nationally known motivational speaker.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and guests, children served by the Center will have their own opportunity to gain their “vision beyond sight.”
